In a world where magic is a scarce resource, one country’s new queen is desperate to find a mythical relic long-rumoured to unlock a new source of magic. Our paperback book this month is the first in an Indian-inspired duology from a debut author. Our Illumicrate edition features an entirely redesigned, naked hardback cover with gorgeous foiling details, digitally printed edges, and is signed by the author! Our hardback book for January is This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi! We were swept away by Tahereh’s gorgeous prose, utterly obsessed with the relationship between Alizeh and Kamran, and captivated by this Persian-inspired world. This month we’re focusing on royalty with something to hide, and we’re kicking off 2022 in style with a two book box!

I couldn’t stop smiling when Kamran was thinking about Alizeh. It was such a slow-burn, and having dual POV made me love Kamran and Alizeh even more. The romance was out of this world, quite literally. After the first couple of chapters, it was extremely easy to fall in love with him. Kamran, on the other hand, seemed to be a villain at first, but being able to access his internal thoughts definitely made me warm up to him. The whole action was basically constricted in the last three chapters.Īlizeh quickly became one of my favourite female characters, mostly because of her kindness but also because of her quick thinking and ability to take care of herself. The book was slow-paced, but it had a certain sort of charm to it. The world-building is absolutely amazing, and the distinction between Jinn and humans is clear from the first chapters.

He sees Alizeh by accident, and he cannot put her out of his mind, despite the fact that they are supposed to be enemies. Kamran, on the other hand, is a prince of a kingdom in which Alizeh is hiding. Alizeh works as a low cast servant, despite being the heir to an ancient Jinn kingdom who is forced to hide in plain sight. This Woven Kingdom follows the story of two characters.
